Three Cat Productions presents HG Wells’s “The War of the Worlds”.  This special performance featured Rick Kogan and Rob Dorn with all proceeds benefiting the Skokie Theatre.

Two Pioneer Press sports journalists have been honored for their contributions to the field.

 

Dennis Mahoney, a sportswriter for the paper since 1991, has been inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

 

"It's very very flattering,'' Mahoney told his colleagues at the Press. He said he's always approached his job as a storyteller rather than an expert. "It's not about me being some expert, it's about the kids and the coaches.

Fast growing MakeItBetter.net became metropolitan Chicago's largest information and community networking source catering to suburban women Friday with the purchase of NorthShore Magazine's assets, a 32-year-old publishing mainstay.

 

The purchase from Sun-Times Media comes six months after MakeItBetter.net launched a magazine companion to its 3-year-old popular Internet site. The website had over 35,000 unique readers in the first three months of 2010.

On March 8th, Skokie commission members, volunteers, elected officials, and Mayor Van Dusen came together to honor the work of our commissioners and other Village volunteers. Of the many who were honored that night, one man stands out for his longtime contributions as a member of the Human Relations Commission, as the creator and producer of the popular Skokie People Speak cable television show, and as an active volunteer at the annual Festival of Cultures

RCN customers can now watch CLTV on channel 31 in many Chicago neighborhoods, including East Rogers Park, Edgewater, Andersonville, Wrigleyville, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, River North and Gold Coast, as well as portions of the neighboring suburbs of Lincolnwood and Skokie.

A new program of the Skokie Human Relations Commission’s Education Committee has been created to encourage Skokie high school students to perform volunteer work addressing unmet needs in the community and to make a difference in their own lives.
