The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Statue was erected to honor the life and achievements of Mahatma Gandhi. On October 2, 2004, members of the Gandhi Trust and elected officials, community leaders, and citizens of Skokie and the surrounding areas, unveiled a 12ft statue at Heritage Park on the Birthday anniversary of Gandhi. It is the first life size statue of Gandhiji in Illinois and it is a pride and joy for our community.

Iran has a long proud history that predates the 7th century Islamic invasion. Its ancient kings preceded the Greeks in promoting human rights and religious tolerance. Now Iran is an Islamic Shiite theocracy, a nation in turmoil. As we watch the pictures of his 1000 mile overland trip, Bill Helmuth will provide a glimpse into Iran's people and places.

AFIRE Urges Legislators to Protect Illinois families

The Alliance of Filipinos for Immigrant Rights and Empowerment (AFIRE) urges leaders and legislators, both Democrats and Republicans, to address the impact of the proposed state budget cuts to the lives and future of hundreds of thousands of families.

Join the "Walk" for the Philippine American Cultural Foundation!

The Philippine American Cultural Foundation, in cooperation with the Philippine Week Committee and the West Suburban Philippine Civic Group, is holding it 6th Annual Walkathon on Sunday, June 28. Registration starts at 9:00 am and the race begins at 10:00 am. The event will be held at the Camera Park located at 101 E. Fullerton Avenue, Glendale Heights, IL. Indo-American Center faces cut in funds

The center serves the South Asian community by providing low-income immigrants and their families the opportunity to assimilate and prosper in a new environment. If there are cuts in state aid, the Indo-American Center may be forced to cancel programs and services. The center now serves over 100 clients a day, providing English, computer and civics classes along with programs for youth and seniors.
