Illinois Launches 'Open Data' Website
On June 21, Governor Quinn announced the launch of Data.Illinois.Gov using the Socrata Social Data Platform. Residents and non-residents will be able to access a clearinghouse of data from different state agencies and allows viewers to access comprehensive information on how the state operates.
Information includes:
The Illinois Innovation Council, which was created by the Governor in February, was the driving force behind the site's launch.
The site will continue to expand as more state agencies’ data are added, helping to improve the overall transparency of Illinois while promoting economic development.
- Traffic data from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT)
- Tourism data from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).
