Skokie Swift Bus Option Up for Debate
The extension of the Skokie Swift Yellow Line --- using either rail or buses --- continues to cause heated discussion by residents and Mayor Van Dusen. Originally the CTA recommended extending the Skokie Swift Yellow Line in conjunction with the opening of the Oakton St. transit station in order to provide transportation to the northwest side of the village. Residents were opposed to this plan, saying it would disrupt their neighborhoods. The mayor has put forth a new plan utilizing buses, but following along the same proposed route as the rail line. The group Skokie Reasonable Transit is comprised of residents who are opposed to any extension. Some residents are in favor of an extension, but using a different route than the one proposed by the mayor.
