Niles West's Theatre Department Plans Fundraisers For Trip To Scotland Film Festival
The Niles West High School Theatre Department will perform at the 2010 American High School Theatre Festival next summer in Scotland, among the world's largest and most prestigious arts festival.
Niles West Theatre students will travel to Edinburgh, Scotland in August 2010 to perform at the Edingburgh Fringe Festival. The high school's theater group won the privilege after a rigorous application process. The honor, coupled with the 2007 Kennedy Center Award for Best Fine Arts Department in the U.S., propels Niles West Theater to the front of high school theater programs.
The school is beginning a major fundraising event to help offset the cost of traveling to the event. Each performing student will be responsible for raising about $6,000.
In an effort to raise funds, donations will be solicited during theater performances held during the 2009-2010 school year. Upcoming shows are:
* "The Sparrow," running from Dec. 10-12;
* "Lysistrata," Feb. 18-20;
* "Fame," April 29-May 1.
Show tickets are $10; $7 for seniors, students and children under 12.
