Kan Zaman Gallery Grand Reopening in Skokie a Success
Guests were treated to baba ghannoug, falafel, spinach and meat pies, and other delicacies along with a tour of the interior full of oriental rugs and exquisite home furnishings. Owner Falah Tabahi (right), also known for his popular Pita Inn restaurants, is seen here with long time friend Talat Othman.
The Gallery, which opened in 2006, recently doubled its size, providing more space for its diverse collection. Each rug was hand-picked from around the world by collector and gallery owner, Falah Tabahi. In addition to an exquisite rug collection, the gallery carries beautiful hand-blown glass items from Hebron, Palestine; handsome mother-of-pearl furniture, including tables, chairs, wall hangings, and room dividers; hand-carved walnut furniture; chandeliers, lamps and vases.
It is unique to find such high quality rugs, furniture, home accessories and lighting, all in one place. Hebron craftsmen rely on antique glass blowing techniques and are widely known for their artistry. Intricate, one-of-a-kind items include famous hand woven Turkish Harakah rugs including several antique rugs which adorned the former Shah of Iran’s palace. Other rugs come from elsewhere in Persia, India, Pakistan, China, and Turkey. The gallery's key distinction is that it carries such a diverse selection of items for the home.
