In conjunction with its Friday, Family Fun Night program, the Skokie Public Library partnered with the Filipino American community in presenting “Visit the Philippines” Friday, April 25, 2008.
The Village of Skokie will offer a monthly Immigrant Information Series focusing on issues that are important to immigrant residents. All workshops will be held at the Skokie Public Library, 5215 Oakton Street from 7 to 8:30pm on the first Monday of each month from May 2008 to January 2009.
According to the most recent census data, more than 21% of Skokie's residents are of Asian descent. Of those residents listing themselves as foreign-born, 53% came from Asia.
